The subject of soldering and brazing is not always regarded as one of the most exciting, however Dr. Dusan Sekulic from the University of Kentucky in the US finds it a very different experience. What drives his research is the ability to take this art and add a complete scientific understanding to the processes which produce some stunning images when processes are observed through an optical microscope equipped with a hot stage. The goal is to mimic processes that may be found in factories and workshops the world over.
